CINEQUEST FILM FESTIVAL: Interview with Director, Quincy Rose

The Cinequest Film Festival is still in full effect in Downtown San Jose. Director, Quincy Rose, of the film, Friends Effing Friends Effing Friends, stopped by the KSJS studio last night for a quick interview about his feature film.

KSJS is part of the RTVF Department (Radio/Television/Film) at San Jose State University. With that being said, it is very important for students to hear about the screenwriting process, casting, and overall production of films such as these. Students in this major learn the very skills Quincy Rose has exhibited, and many aspire to create works like Friends Effing Friends Effing Friends.

The story is about a group of friends who begin to have sexual relations with one another. In a time where commitment doesn’t really mean anything and hook ups are the norm, the film showcases the devious excitement that comes along with unfaithful or halfhearted relationships. It’s a comedy, but it’s enticingly dramatic, realistic, and relevant to most people who are, or have been involved in a deceitful relationship.

If you missed my show, A Vibe Called West, airing every Wednesday from 10:00 PM to 2:00 AM on 90.5 FM KSJS, you missed the awesome Q & A session Mr. Rose and I had. When asked what advice he had for college students studying film, Mr. Rose said, “Get out of your comfort zone… Grow!” He continued, “if you go to a party with your five friends and sit in a corner, you’ll have a good time, but you won’t be challenged.” He insisted working with unfamiliar people and collaborating with others who share similar passions.

Friends Effing Friends Effing Friends is showing TODAY, Thursday 3/11 at 4:30 PM at Cinema 12 (Screen 10) in Downtown San Jose.
