A Vibe Called West started as a blog, is now a radio show, and is transforming into a brand. DEBO, founder, writer, radio DJ, photographer, and former music director has used this space to showcase her personal and professional work – everything from music charts to writing samples, playlists to photography, festival coverage and even swim lessons opportunities.
Having always had a passion for writing and stumbling upon college radio, DEBO has found a niche in writing for music: show previews, reviews, festival coverage, feature articles – you name it! The radio platform has given her the space to be creative with her media and she is loving it. Having a non-biased place to promote (and critique) festivals, promo people from all over have reached out to request her presence to get an online footprint on A Vibe Called West.
Her radio show started as a Hip-Hop channel playing local, independent, and underground sounds, but over the course of one summer, and whilst attending so many multi-genre festivals, she realized Hip-Hop needed something else and so in the summer of ’18, DEBO decided to blend Hip-Hop with House, EDM, and other sub-genres of Electronic music.
While music and writing have been so cohesive, another side of DEBO is aquatics. Having been a lifeguard for over 10 years, a swim instructor, coach, swimwear brand ambassador, and a copywriter for a multi-branded online swim retailer, she can’t help but teach swim lessons to friends, kids of friends, neighborhood families, and family members.
